Only an hour and 20 minutes after passing Cape Horn, skipper Vincent Riou called his team to report that his sailboat PRB had been dismasted. When the call was made PRB position was approximately 55 deg S and 65 deg 59 W, about 7.8 miles to the North West of the Cape Horn light.

Vincent Riou received the damage to his yacht which caused the dismasting during the rescue of fellow Vendee Globe skipper Jean Le Cam.

Both skippers Vincent Riou and Jean Le Cam are safe and well.
