Cruising in Greece by Klearchos Kapoutsis

The lovely cruising grounds in Greece. This photo is of a sailboat at Porto Koufo, Sithonia, Halkidiki, Greece.  The area of Halkidiki is very famous for its beaches and also has the reputation to have some of the best beaches of Greece.

The Halkidiki beaches are like tropical ones with amazing crystal-clear blue or turquoise waters and long white fine sandy beaches. Halkidiki is combining those paradisiacal beaches with incredible dense vegetation and forest. The most famous beaches of Halkidiki are Kallithea, Neos Marmaras and Vourvourou.

Sailing in Croatia by Stefano Liboni

Sailing in Croatia by Stefano Liboni

Croatia, officially the Republic of Croatia, is a southern Central and Danubian European country at the crossroads between the Pannonian Plain and the Mediterranean Sea. Its capital and largest city is Zagreb. Croatia borders with Slovenia and Hungary to the north, Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the east, and Montenegro to the far southeast. Its southern and western flanks border the Adriatic Sea, and it also shares a sea border with Italy in the Gulf of Trieste.

Croatia is located between South-Central Europe and Middle Europe. Its shape resembles that of a crescent or a horseshoe, which flanks its neighbours Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. To the north lie Slovenia and Hungary; Italy lies across the Adriatic Sea. Its mainland territory is split in two non-contiguous parts by the short coastline of Bosnia and Herzegovina around Neum.

Offshore Croatia consists of over one thousand islands varying in size. The largest islands in Croatia are Cres and Krk which are located in the Adriatic Sea. You wouldn’t think of it, but Croatia is a great spot for sailing, with many places of interest for sailors.
